Bookbot is a recommerce platform that operates in 9 countries, ships books to 40 countries and has already sold over 10 million books. Every day we sell around 30 000 books and receive a little bit more. We are the 16th fastest growing tech startups in the CEE region. We aim to make second-hand books the new European standard.
We’re looking for an experienced Data Product Owner to lead the development of our book catalog - a core product that shapes how we present, market and recommend books to our customers. You’ll define the vision, drive the roadmap, and lead a team dedicated to turning raw data into business growth and customer engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Own the vision, roadmap, and backlog of the book data catalog. Ensure that the book catalog serves its purpose as a product for e-shop, marketplaces as well as for internal purposes (e.g. content management).
- Define metrics to measure data quality and integrity across different aspects of the book catalog.
- Lead and deliver book data focused projects end-to-end, including specification, coordination, and hands-on development. Manage and shuffle priorities based on current company goals.
- Research new book data sources, different types of contextual data, and processing improvements.
- Manage and develop a small team. Assign tasks across different departments if necessary (IT, Product, BizDev).
- Act as the domain expert and point of contact for book data across the company.
About you:
- Experience in a similar position (Data product owner, BI lead, Technical product owner etc.).
- Strong technical foundation: hands-on with SQL, Python and data automations, ideally in modern cloud data stack.
- Experience designing and operating data products — catalogs, ETLs or ML-driven features.
- Excellent communication skills to align stakeholders across product, engineering, and business.
What we offer:
- Collaborate with awesome people like our Head of Data Markéta Patáková, and CTO David. .
- Listen to a podcast with Markéta to get an even better understanding of how our BI and Data team works and what we’re currently tackling.
- We build our entire system in-house, meaning there’s a wide variety of problems to solve and endless opportunities to learn and create.
- You’ll see the results of your work immediately—when we rework or optimize a process, it typically has visible positive effects, not just on the website but also in the warehouse, shipping, customer support, or intake. If something goes wrong, you'll hear about it within minutes!
- An amazing opportunity to have a significant impact on the future of Bookbot, and to grow with us exponentially.
- Multisport card, employee discounts on buying and selling books, plus partner discounts.
- Budget for self development
- Possibility to gain ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) and have a financial stake in the company’s success.
- An informal environment and a pragmatic approach to getting things done.
